Throwback Thursday: Neuschwanstein Castle


We could not have asked for better weather during our visit to Neuschwanstein Castle in July 2010!  This photo was taken from the Marienbrücke (Queen Mary's Bridge) adjacent to the castle by some fellow honeymooners!

    Is this the Sleepingbeauty castle? When I was little this was precisely the castle I wanted to always live in!

      Yes, Disney used Neuschwanstein as the inspiration for the Sleeping Beauty castle! Isn't it just lovely?! Neuschwanstein was also a filming location for Chitty, Chitty, Bang, Bang (as was Rothenberg).

      Aw, thanks! It's almost always overrun with tourists, but since it's such a must-see site, there's no escaping that!
